ESSENTIAL OILS: PURIFICATION

Let’s talk about Young Living’s essential oil blend, Purification. It’s a blend of lemongrass, rosemary, melaleuca alternifolia, myrtle, and citronella. I actually used to hate the smell of it because of how strong the lemongrass is in it, but it grew on me over time and now I’m absolutely obsessed!

PURIFICATION

  • Lemongrass – has strong anti-fungal properties and is purifying and antibacterial.
  • Citronella – is antiseptic, antibacterial, antispasmodic, anti-inflammatory, insecticidal, and insect-repelling.
  • Rosemary – is antiseptic, anti-fungal, and antimicrobial and may be beneficial for skin conditions and dandruff. It helps fight candida and is anti-infectious.
  • Melaleuca Alternifolia (also known as tea tree)- is antibacterial, anti-fungal, anti-parasitic, antiseptic, and anti-inflammatory.
  • Myrtle – is antibacterial and may support immune function in fighting colds, flu, and other infectious disease.

I was a little confused at first with how I was supposed to use this essential oil blend in every day life. I knew that it was supposed to be good for getting rid of stinky odours, but didn’t know much else about it. My first positive experience with this blend was right after I hurt my hand a few weeks ago. I was told to soak my hand in salt water a few times a day until my hand healed. While I had a friend over, who is also into using essential oils, she suggested adding some essential oils to the salt water and Purification came to mind. Within half an hr of soaking my hand, it was already looking much better. We were both shocked at the difference. Not only did it help my hand to heal faster, it kept infection at bay and helped with the pain. Now, a few weeks later, my hand is looking great and I think I’ll have minimal scarring, thanks to the use of Purification and Frankincense.

Another way this blend has really helped is during flu season. Peter and I haven’t been hit with the flu so far, and hopefully it won’t happen at all, even though we’ve been surrounded by people who have it. I’ve been diffusing Purification every day, alternating it with Thieves, another great Young Living essential oil blend. Many times I’ve felt a bit under the weather and I can tell that my body is fighting something, but nothing has actually developed. Now, I do naturally have an incredible immune system when it comes to keeping away the flu, but I do get colds quite easily. Since the use of essential oils, it’s been a really long time since I’ve had any sort of sickness and I’m thankful. I’m also saying, with confidence, that it’s all thanks to my hard working immune system and the immune boosting oils that I’ve been diffusing daily.

I also use Purification to rid my house of stinky smells. With 3 rats and 2 gerbils, the house can get really stinky the day before cage cleaning day. Purification helps mask the smell so well. A tip for cat owners: you can add a few drops of Purification to some baking soda and mix it in with cat litter. It’s really helped out a few friends who normally can’t change the cat litter without gagging.

There’s so many amazing things that Purification can be used for. I’ve only highlighted the ways that have worked for me, in my experience, but I’ve read of many other great experiences that people have had with it. It’s been used to help with bug bites, bee stings, flea treatment, blisters, acne, mold, and more.

Essential Oils have changed my life and I hope that you feel inspired to give them a try too!

I am really interested in essential oils. I would love to be able to start the process of changing from cleaning with chemicals to more natural products like essential oils, but I wasn’t sure about them. Your post I believe has finally gave me the push to try. Thanks so much!
